Sam The Concrete Man Birmingham

Terrible experience using Sam the Concrete Man. Sounded like they knew what they were doing laying down a simple concrete pad for me. First attempt was wildly un-level because they decided not to use any laser levels. Second attempt added 17” of concrete to one side because they didn’t want to do any more dirt work. Not only that, they left a bunch of trash and decided to crack open some beers on my property. They left broken glass, beer bottle caps, destroyed personal property, decided to use my tools without asking, and felt like a bait and switch from what the project manager had me envisioning. The second attempt also left exposed rebar, doesn’t drain because they left it like a “fish bowl”, and finally they ran out of concrete early and decided to use Quik-rete for the last corner. I was also told their crew didn’t get paid for the second attempt and were probably “upset” while messing up the second time. Their owner, Sam Elliot, made a bunch of excuses and by the time he was finally ready to try for a THIRD time I had already moved on to another contractor to do it correctly. I asked for a refund multiple times to which he refused and now I’ve had to take legal action to try and recoup any costs for the monstrosity they left in my back yard. Terrible experience and wouldn’t consider them to do the most basic of projects. Learn from my experience and find someone else if you’re considering hiring Sam the Concrete Man in Birmingham.

Overall, was very pleased with the concrete work done. The project included a driveway extension, slab placement, and sidewalk addition. Ed was very knowledgeable and professional throughout the process. He was easy to communicate with and listened to our needs. He was able to offer different options to achieve our goals and pricing was very fair! Him and his crew were fantastic! While only time will test the durability of the concrete, at this stage, I would highly recommend Ed and Sam the Concrete Man.

Very unprofessional. They cancelled appointment 5 mins before they were to be there after I had taken off that day for it. I hired another company that did an amazing job.

The owner personally came out to our house and explained everything in detail what was going to happen and all the steps along the way. Best concrete company!!! He also came back out the next day just to check and make sure the concrete was up to his very high standards. I would highly recommend him and we plan on using him for all future projects as well.

Sam The Concrete Man did an awesome job on our much needed driveway replacement. Our driveway was the original to the house and did not offer enough parking for our family. The team removed the old and installed a new wider driveway with an added parking pad. They worked extra long hours to get the job done (one night working in freezing temps by car headlights!) They took extra time to make sure everything was perfect before leaving and it looks amazing. We could not be happier with the results and our entire experience!

Very happy with partial replacement of my concrete driveway, and new bluestone patio and bluestone front porch. The owner Ed Elliott was great about quoting, suggestions, follow up. Materials and expert craftsmanship of the installation crew were excellent. Highly recommend!

We contacted this company to lay concrete to extend our dumpster pad so the trash truck could access the dumpster easier. Edward came out and was very professional and we received the quote the next day. They were able to get the job done quicker than planned and did outstanding work. We will definitely use them again for any concrete work.

Edward was great to work with and his crew did an excellent job replacing my broken up driveway. They cleaned it up so well you couldn’t tell they had been there not even damaging any existing sod. I couldn’t be more pleased!
