Hector's crew did a good job and the results look great. He and his crew were easy to work with and helped move some heavy objects for me. Some minor details such as an undersized faucet bib, underneath wood left unprotected, and a missed cut on a beam were the only concerns.

I had an overall great experience with Custom Decks. We worked together to detail out the project, deciding everything from brick colors to style of mantle. During the project, they worked diligently through the approval and permitting processes. Communication was great and questions were answered promptly. Even during the build they suggested some tweaks to the final plans to make things better and they were right. This project was fairly expensive and it had a good bit of lead time waiting for their schedules to free up. But I knew all of this before even starting the project and was ok with it. Once the project started it was done on time and on budget. They want to do a good job and stand behind their work. All around a successful project. Be sure to check the before and after photos as that really shows the change.

Jorge and crew were phenomenal. The quality of work was great with close attention to detail paid. I’m handy, do lots of carpentry, and have high standard but even still they impressed me at every step.

Over the years I’ve had four decks built and one I personally built with a friend. Two of these decks were at my own residence. These decks have become quite burdensome, and I lost the momentum to maintain them. My wife and I made the decision that our current deck needed to be replaced, the one I helped build. While finding the right builder we finally made the decision to utilize Custom Decks out of Colorado. From the onset every Custom Deck employee displayed a high degree of customer/client service. In preparing their estimate they utilized drones to take arial and elevation photos of the site; my home is situated on a hillside; careful measurements were taken with a fair deal of consideration to site-planning. Once we made the commitment, meeting with sales staff and site planners, I was contacted by Kari, Design and Permitting Manager; she was instrumental in designing my deck per my specifications. She found design solutions to issues confronting my hillside foundation to design features which proved to be much better than our own ideas. During this design process we resigned ourselves to trusting those Custom Deck professionals with years of experience. Kari would also guide us through the permitting process. Additionally, she explained the engineering issues confronting my hillside; this necessitated the need to drive piles into the ground to secure the foundation. Finally, she worked with us on the details from the railing, to lighting and the design of the deck flooring itself. The permitting process took over a year but when approved, I was put in touch with Steve Ervin, Project Manager overseeing my project. He would be the individual accountable for the construction of our deck as well as our satisfaction. Four outstanding individuals were assigned to my project, these individuals knew their business. Prior to, Kari informed me it would take about 2 weeks to complete which I was quite skeptical. These builders proved her right despite some unforeseen circumstances that delayed the project for a few days. We only lost one day and a half as the overall work plan was well-orchestrated and executed. As a customer I learned a lot just by watching these deck builders. It's been about four weeks since the deck was completed, and I have enjoyed this deck each day; without reservation I would utilize Custom Decks again. Will L.

Had such a great experience with our new deck, especially on the design and builder side. I wasn't sure what our options were, both in aesthetic and materials, but got lots of good info and found exactly what I wanted, Trex is a game changer. The builder was amazing too, sometimes that can be hit and miss but everyone that actually came to our property to work on the deck was respectful and easy to talk with (I had lots of questions). The finished work was so well done and really changed our space for the better! So glad I didn't decide to do this myself.

I hired Custom Deck to repair and update my waterproof deck over my garage. Assured Custom Deck could handle this type of project, I signed the contract and paid a 30% deposit in February 2023. The start date was to be in mid-July, after the rains stopped, and it was to take two weeks. I was informed in mid-June that the start date was July 10, only to discover on July 19th that they had not yet hired a local contractor and were just then getting bids! Day after day I was promised “It starts tomorrow” and day after day I was disappointed. The project actually started on July 21st, but there were problems. After the membrane (Duradek brand) was first installed, I walked out the deck door to discover a 6’x3’ puddle. It turned out there was insufficient slope on the underlying plywood for the water to run off and the membrane had to be torn up and redone twice. Despite assurances to the contrary, the project manager told me she had never handled a waterproof deck before. Time and time again, there were problems and delays. The membrane was finally installed properly on August 4th. Then I learned that the railing had yet to be ordered and would take 4-6 weeks to arrive. In the meantime, several other details, including the flashing, fascia, and gutters, were finished in the third week of August. The railings arrived at the end of September and were installed the beginning of October. The project that was supposed to take two weeks was completed in three months. Rather than have a new deck by mid-summer, I had no deck at all the entire season. To add insult to injury, I received repeated demands for more payments. When the project was finally completed, I asked for a credit of 14% of the total project. It was denied and the president of Custom Deck called his attorney and threatened to sue me for slander, defamation of character, and extortion if I posted a review. This without any statement of concern for my experience or apology for the abysmal handling of the project. The entire experience was stressful and, at times, infuriating. The customer service from Custom Decks was awful. The project manager often didn’t know what was going on. I ended up dealing with the local contractor, who was much more knowledgeable and helpful than Custom Decks. Given what I know now, I would never have hired Custom Decks in the first place and would not, in any case, recommend them to anyone else for this type of project.

My wife and I attended the Colorado Home & Garden show with the intent of finding a company to build our new deck. Through the show, we were able to obtain multiple bids. Among all of the bids we received, nobody gave us the same feeling of trust and confidence like Custom Decks. They weren't the least expensive option, but we knew we would get what we paid for. And we did! In addition to the overall quality of their work, the staff at Custom Decks was terrific and always addressed any concerns or questions we had through the process. Dale Jr., Dale Sr., Kari, Brittnee, Greg and Christian all made the process not just easy, but enjoyable. I am not one for writing online reviews, but this is one I was willing to make an exception on. These guys are fantastic and I highly recommend them.
