Just had a new kitchen floor installed and the rest of the existing floors redone in a house we just bought. We needed the work done during a tight time window between the previous owners moving our and our moving truck showing up. Luke and his folks made it all work and did an absolutely fantastic job!
Over-promised and under-delivered. Lack of responsibility for subcontractors hired. For example: Brick subcontractor that was hired, installed the brick wrong and walked out on the job, yet still was paid by Luke Matchett because he never checked in to know the job was incomplete. There is no pride in the work being completed, gaps in baseboards, chunks of drywall taken out when they moved furniture. Timeline is non existent, our flooring was “lost” for months. Communication is poor, had to constantly ask for updates and was sent to voicemail on every phone call made. Overall distrust of Luke Matchett, would not recommend.

Despite events outside of our control, we worked hard to complete a challenging project. In the end you were given over $7k in concessions.
As an architect, I needed to refresh a 20 year old townhouse in a walkable mixed use neighborhood. The main floor had #2 oak, and the stairs and 2nd floor had carpet that was past its usable life. We have had good experience with laminate flooring elsewhere and put out a request for pricing for replacement of the carpet. We got a good response from Floor Coverings International. Luke was helpful with his knowledge of manufacturers and suppliers. He also took the initiative to give a separate quote to refinish the existing hardwood on the main floor which we bundled with the laminate project. Once started, the installation and refinishing was accomplished professionally and with attention to detail. I like the results.

Bad floor refinishing. Bad baseboard alignment. See pictures. Old clunky sanding equipment created clouds of dust that settled everywhere. Better sanding equipment with higher end filtration doesn’t do that. Crew set up and used their miter saw right inside the house. My fridge broke from chocking on the dust! Overall, fast and loose workmanship. Flooring nails visible on the surface, baseboards don’t align. Edit: had the walkthrough on Jun 6th. Luke stopped responding to my texts.

Paul, we hate that your experience wasn't typical of what we offer. We always state that you don't have to pay until you're 100% satisfied, and we stand by that. We would still like to have a final walkthrough and address any and all issues you have. We're not happy until you're happy and I'd appreciate an opportunity to ensure your satisfaction. The refinish crew has been terminated we'll do whatever we need to do to make sure you and everyone else has the best experience possible.
