We hired J&J (a.k.a. Roofer Near Me) for a screened backporch addition & new metal roof on our historic home. They should have been honored to complete this project for us, our home is listed on the AL State Register of Landmarks & Heritage, but the experience we had did not show me that they were honored to have the job at all. While the new roof looks fine, the construction experience was a nightmare! The owner had to redo brick foundation piers himself that his chosen crew were unable to properly execute on their own the first time. Those unsupervised workers also damaged my husbands sawhorses which they used without permission, took some of my personal items (replaced by our project manager, Charles), and started the job MUCH later than we were told they would. We even found evidence the crew used our wooded property for "personal needs" before the porta-potty arrived. They've been done with the job for about 2 weeks now, but the porta-potty was still on our property as of yesterday (April 25th). The final build had several sloppy details (misfired nails, sloppy cuts, backwards screendoor, poorly installed attic stairs) requiring my husband to fix them himself. Given these issues, my husband (Jason Clark) and I cannot recommend J&J for any construction projects beyond roofing... and I honestly wouldn't hire them again for a roofing job after this experience. I must also add that the Latino crew drank alcohol on the job site, we saw the bottles & cans with our own eyes! This is my second Google review, I had to delete the first one because both my review and the photos seem to have been reported and they were no longer visible on Google. I had received a response to my first review last night that claimed to be from the owner, but was clearly not because they said they didn't recognize my name or the job, even though I met the owner (Josh) along with our project manager in person along with my husband on the job site back in March. I was also told in that response that they have been "roofing only" since November 2023, even though our job was booked in January 2024 and it was more than a roof! And they are still advertising construction services, so it doesn't look to me like they are doing roofing only since November 2023. I might try to upload my photos on here again later, I have the screenshots of the initial response I was given. All reviews matter, even if they are negative. I initially selected this company because they had ALL 5-star reviews online, I even told Josh that myself, but that is just not the quality of service that we recieved. I need no response from the company, I simply wanted others to know that not every customer of J&J/Roofer Near Me has been satasified with them. I also feel that the 'conflict of interest' from Josh reviewing his own business on "Roofer Near Me" speaks volumes of the lack of professionalism. I have reported that blatant violation to Google, It is a HUGE conflict of interest for an owner to positively review their own business! The current sponsord Google ad they are running is using the name "J&J Services Roofing and Renovations" so that makes a total of four different business names that they seem to operate under, this is just insane to me. Pick ONE name and stick with it. Not professional, do not recommend. Yes, I'd say you DO have "some areas to improve in". You are most welcome for my honesty, I truly wish that my experience would have allowed for me to have given you five stars like everyone else.
Response from the owner
We agree all reviews even if negative, should be posted. Thank you for the constructive feedback. We have some areas to improve in. We need to know these types of things. Thank you
