Champion Solar

We had our solar system installed at the end of 2019 by the previous owner (Winona Renewable Energy). It was a great experience working with the company and we are pretty much on track with the “Performance and Financial Analysis”. We have had three inverters go out and the parts were covered by warranty. The previous owners absorbed the labor costs and the current owners (understandably) do not. We are waiting to hear about a maintenance contract. Still happy with our decision to install solar and now have another reason to appreciate sun filled days.

My solar panels were installed by Champion solar under its previous owners when it was called Winona renewables. Nearly 4 years later, I was contacted by Champion solar when they noticed two panels were not producing. They were very easy to work with getting an appointment set up to investigate the issue and quickly had the issue resolved. Champion Solar is expanding into the Twin Cities from their base in the Winona area, and I heard about them when they became a sponsor of Minnesota Public Radio. I was ready to have a system installed on my house, so I contacted them. My entire experience with Champion Solar was smooth and painless from start to finish. We worked with Jeremiah Staples, one of the owners of the company. He came to our house and took great pains to explain the planning and installation process from start to finish, and he even cleared up some misunderstandings about the correct sizing of solar systems that had been created by another company I'd contacted previously. Communication with Champion throughout both design and installation was frequent and transparent - essential elements when the contractor is handling a job involving a considerable sum of money. Jeremiah was always available to answer questions by phone, e-mail or text - and he still is, even now, when the system is up and running. In addition, chatting with the electricians during the job convinced me that Jeremiah and the other owner, John, are succeeding at running a company designed to do three things: satisfy their customers; mitigate global warming; and provide a supportive work environment for its employees. The installation crew was highly professional. Their work was meticulous, a fact that delighted this very particular homeowner. They cared for my home as if it were their own. The master electricians, Karl and John, were happy to answer all of my many questions, and took whatever time was needed in order to help me understand how the components of the system worked and exactly what was going on at every stage. I have hired a number of contractors in my 35 years as a homeowner, and I can attest that this level of concern and consideration for the homeowner and the dwelling is rare. I wholeheartedly recommend that you call Champion Solar when you're in the market for solar panels.

Champion installed 18 panels on our garage and 12 on our house. Pricing was very competitive for a sophisticated and attractive system. The process was super-smooth and Jeremiah and his team were amazing to work with. The system is performing beautifully. Highly recommend Champion Solar!

Let me tell you about my journey to get solar panels installed at my house. We started several years ago thinking about solar and possibly having panels installed on our house. Unfortunately, our house is not a good candidate because of the number of trees we have. We were quite disappointed and shelved the idea. During this past Spring we talked to several local businesses about solar panel installation and started researching again. We decided to see if we could do an in-yard system and it seemed like it was possible. After more exploration we met one of the owners of Champion Solar of Winona, MN. During our conversation with him we decided to explore a design for our backyard. We also talked to a neighbor who has a roof mounted system from Champion Solar. After some consideration we thought Champion Solar would work for us and signed the contract. I am very happy with Champion Solar and the service they provided. The installation process was smooth and the employees were very knowledgeable and helpful. The solar arrays are working great and I am starting to save money on my electricity bill. I would highly recommend Champion Solar to anyone considering solar panels. Here is what impressed me with the entire process of getting my in-ground solar array installed: * Knowledgeable and helpful employees. From the owner, project manager, foreman, master electrician, site engineer, they all worked together as a team and there was no job too big nor too small for any of them to contribute * The team went the extra mile and let two young boys, neighbor children (5 and 8 years old), help during one day of the project. The boys even ate lunch in our yard with the team. And at the end of the project they wrote each boy a very nice thank you card * Design process was easy and it did not take too many iterations to achieve an appropriate sized system that maximized our arrays, while accommodating our electric company’s needs, and getting us the maximum rebate. We have two arrays, one facing south (16 panels) and one facing southwest (10 panels) * The price was good and they guided us through tax credits and rebates * They worked through all approval processes to get the job okayed and started * They worked fast requiring four days of work to build the rack system for the panels, do the electrical work for the interconnection, trench the yard for the power lines etc., install the panels and micro-inverters, and finishing work * Smooth installation process plus the team was present for inspections and the interconnection to the electrical coop * Solar arrays are working great and I am starting to save money on the electricity bill * Overall, I am very happy with Champion Solar and the service they provided. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering solar panels.

Champion Solar did a stellar job for the install of our new 18kw system at Deep Portage Learning Center. The process was efficient from start to finish. Communication was timely and helpful. The entire Champion team was a pleasure to work with. As an educational facility, we have lots of staff and board who were very excited about the project and had many questions, and the install crew was more than happy to answer questions, show us what they were doing, etc. Champion Solar went above and beyond, thank you!

Provided with a nice set up to accommodate all my electric needs and then some. Good workmanship. Everyone at the company has been friendly and easy to work with. I had quotes from two other companies as well. Champion Solar had the best price.

We installed a 24kW DC, 18.7kW, AC system in July, 2022. We had a couple of hardware issues but thanks to the owners and salesman, all have been resolved. A special thanks to Jeremiah and Alex. All work was professionally accomplished. All interactions were pleasant with installers. The system was sized to exceed my usage so that we wouldn't have electricity bills in retirement. For the most part, we have net cost. December was not much sun but we expected that for Minnesota. Give Champion Solar a shot at your solar panel needs.
